By all accounts, yesterday’s first (for a very long time) Peel Soapbox Derby was a great success. Please keep your photos and videos coming to us.

Great crowds came to Peel yesterday – the police e
stimated there to be between 3 and 4 thousand people at the event.
There was a slight delay at the start, but as with any new event, there can be a few teething problems. These will be ironed out for next year, which has already been approved to run on an extended course from the top of Peveril Road to the bottom of Stanley Road.

Ian Davison, Peel Commissioner and event organiser said “I wish to thank the following people that made the event happen: firstly our sponsors, Pepsi, Energy FM radio, Davison’s ice cream, Peter Dawson Tyres, Peel Town Commissioners, all the competitors who took part you were all great!”

“Also all the residents on Peveril Road and Ballaquane road for allowing us to close the roads. All the marshals, time keepers, everyone who helped and our PA team Brian & Mike for the commentary it was Fab.”
